November 17, 2008 - Update on activities

So far this year has been very succesful for us! Back in Austria we were able to host a number of small events in cooperation with other NGOs:

- “Soccer for Child’s Smile”: a charity soccer game in June 2008 where we were able to raise 900 Euro
- Jazz-Brunch in June 2008: 900 Euro were raised on this day!
- Information event, lecture on the current situation on the border in June 2008: This was a cooperation with other NGOs

In August 2008 Julia Mayerhofer was able to visit the project in Mae Hong Son, due to lack of time she could only stay for 3 days. Currently a visit in early January is planned. In the future our efforts will be concentrated on two projects:
1. the new EMFS boarding house where CS will take over all costs for education
2. Together with Nai Soi CLC we are aiming at establishing a scholarship programme for university students next year

Julia Mayerhofer is currently in Hong Kong, where she is doing her master’s degree in International Development. Due to this involvement, she is forced to cut back the work on Child’s Smile. However we are still trying to be active in Hong Kong, by finding relevant donors and other interested people.

April 19, 2007 - Updates

On my trip to Mae Hong Son in February 2007 I also visited the Nai Soi Community Learning Center. We are now supporting this project, you can find out more about this project here.
